Students
The Heights staff works hard to provide a rigorous differentiated curriculum, as well as a variety of activities to build community spirit.
There are three school rules: Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful. This umbrella of expectations is coupled with restorative justice practices. We believe in building character and teaching life skills that will enable our students to be successful academically and socially.
Heights is excited to partner with Soul Shoppe to help facilitate a common language among our students, families, and staff. Monthly assemblies are held for each grade level by Soul Shoppe to teach a new lifeskill. Classroom activities reinforce new skills. Parent letters are sent home to inform parents about the activities and life skills. Additionally, student "Peace Makers" are selected for the playground, to help work out small disagreements. The students walk through conversations on a Peace Path. The exercise is facilitated with an adult.
